Drivers

4 questions

What is a hold?

When you choose Charge Now, Slotwatt holds the charger for you while you drive to it. Other drivers see it as taken, and you see a countdown showing exactly how long the hold lasts. Arrive, plug in, and start charging before the countdown ends.

What happens if I arrive late?

If a hold expires before you start charging, the charger is released for other drivers and you are notified. No electricity was delivered, so there is no charging cost — and if the charger is still free when you arrive, you can simply hold it again. For a booked reservation, arriving late within your slot is fine; if the slot passes without you checking in, the listing’s no-show policy applies, and any such policy is shown before you book.

What is the difference between Charge Now and Reserve for Later?

Charge Now is for energy right away: pick a live-available charger, hold it while you drive there, and start when you arrive. Reserve for Later is a booked slot at a specific time: the charger is protected for your window and payment is secured before the slot begins. They are equal modes of the same product — use whichever fits the moment.

How do I know what a session will cost?

Every charger shows its price per kWh before you commit, set by the host. You see the full price — and any applicable fee, if one applies in your market — before holding, reserving, or starting. The receipt then shows energy delivered, duration, unit price, and total.

What chargers can connect to Slotwatt?

Smart chargers connect through a guided flow — answer plain questions about brand and model, and Slotwatt links to the charger directly or through the manufacturer’s cloud. Connected chargers get live status, remote start tied to secured payment, and metered kWh billing. Chargers with no connectivity work too: they can take reservations and secured payments, without live status or remote start.

How much do I earn as a host?

You set your own price per kWh and keep 85% of charging revenue under default terms; Slotwatt’s 15% commission covers the platform. Commercial terms can vary by market and agreement, and every settled session shows the exact split applied.

When do payouts arrive?

Earnings from settled sessions are paid out to your bank account on a schedule. Each payout lists exactly which sessions and earnings it contains, so you can reconcile it line by line against your bank statement.

Do I have to accept every charging request?

No. Each charger runs in the access mode you choose: instant access, approval required for every request, reservation only, or offline. You can switch modes at any time — already-confirmed reservations are honoured or cancelled explicitly, never silently dropped.

Can I pause hosting?

Yes. Set a charger to offline and it disappears from the marketplace — nothing new can be booked. Your listing, history, and settings are preserved for whenever you switch it back on.

Payments

3 questions

When is payment taken?

Your payment method is saved when you book, but you are not charged then. For a future reservation, payment is secured about two hours before your slot; for Charge Now and short-notice bookings, it is secured just before charging starts. Charging never starts without payment secured. After the session, the actual amount for energy delivered is charged and any unused authorisation is released promptly.

What happens if my payment fails before a reservation?

You are notified immediately, with a direct way to fix or replace your payment method, and the reservation is kept during a recovery window so you can see exactly how long you have. If payment cannot be secured within the window, the reservation is released and the slot returns to other drivers.

Can I be both a driver and a host?

Yes — driver and host are roles on one Slotwatt account, not separate accounts. Charge your own car through the driver side and run your charger through the host side, switching between them without logging in twice.
